About Krisna Pijloo

Krisna Pijloo is a young classical guitarist. He was born in Amsterdam on October 21st 1996.  At the age of 10 he got in contact with the guitar for the first time and followed guitar lessons ( together with his younger sister Prawira Pijloo ) with Barbera de Bruin in the music school of Amsterdam.

After studying the guitar for one year he realised how much he enjoys making music and that he wants to become a true professional guitarist.

 

At the age of 13 he got accepted for the young talent department

( Sweelinck Academie ) of the Conservatory of Amsterdam. He now continued his studies with the famous guitar teacher Lex Eisenhardt. 

Under the coaching of his new teacher he won several prizes such as : EGTA  2011 - Twents Gitaar festival ( junior category ) - Pro Guitarra and he also helped his sister winning the Concertgebouw concours 2010 in a duo.


Krisna and his sister perform regularly as a duo ( called Guitar Siblings ) and as soloist throughout the Netherlands and abroad. 

In 2016 he and his sister had the opportunity to play in the Royal Concert Hall in Amsterdam for the series Masters on the guitar. 

They played as a duo “ Danza española from the opera La Vida Brève “ in the pre program from the guitar virtuoso Raphael Aguirre.

His repertoire stretches from Spanish music such as Albeniz, Tarréga, Ponce and Granados to the romantic style where he plays peaces by Merzt, Schubert and Barrios, and further to Modern music such as Piazzola and Takemitsu. 


At the moment Krisna follows his studies with one of the most well known guitarists of this time Gabriel Bianco at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. 


During his studies he followed several masterclasses from famous guitarists and teachers such as :  Marlon Titre, Margarita Escarpa, Jan de Preter, Zoran Dukic, Johannes Möller and Mathew Mc Alister. 


Besides playing guitar Krisna likes to travel around the world, visiting historical cities to get inspired by other cultures and habits. 

He is also very often active in the kitchen as the chef of the house, cooking and food is his passion and his second love.
